Meet Our Staff

Mary Piotrowski - President

Mary began working for Mutual practically from birth. Born the oldest child in this family run business, she worked her way through the ranks during summer vacation by emptying the garbage, packing boxes and helping customers. After graduating with a degree in business, she joined the team full time at Mutual and helped manage the newly acquired Alcone Company. She learned technical theatre the hard way…by doing it. Whether it was loading counterweight onto arbors or hanging curtains, she broke many-a-nail on the job. She feels privileged to help guide a company with such an impressive history and she promises to up hold the tradition.

John Gibbons - General Manager

John has been working for Mutual Hardware since 1975! He truly is one of our best assets. If you have ever spoken with him on the telephone, you know just how funny he can be. But he is also very serious about hardware. If you can't find something, he might know why (like they stopped manufacturing that in 1942). And if we don't have it, he will tell you where to go. Literally! Don't let this resource pass you by.

Carol Grassi - Human Resources and Accounts Payable

Carol started working at Mutual in 1978 when she was negative 5 years old. (Yes, she had working papers then!) Some of you remember her during her wild years as the girl who spent weekends in the Hamptons singing and dancing and could barely speak on Monday. Others know her as the girl who has always paid you on time. If you are considering employment with Mutual, please send your resume to Carol. She gets a kick out of reading them.

Juanita Mencia - Office Manager

Juanita began working for Mutual in 2001 when we moved to our new warehouse space to help answer the phones, but she soon took on many other tasks. She is now our Accounts Receivable Manager and if you don't pay your bills on time…you will be hearing from her. She also assists the sales department. If you need a box traced, she can help. Juanita's bubbly personality comes in handy working in a building filled with men.

Craig Piotrowski - Project Manager/Rigging

Craig began working for Mutual in 1996 after working in construction and the concrete industry. He has a full working knowledge of rigging and all that it entails. He loves a good rigging challenge! In 2000 he became our project manager doing such rigging installations as the new F.A.O. Schwarz store in New York City, as well as numerous school theatre projects across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Craig is also our film product specialist. Based on his recommendation we have included many hard to find film production products. Craig made his way into Mutual by marrying the President, but don't hold that against him. He actually has to work twice as hard.

Salvatore Trentacosti - Sales Representative

Sal started working for us in 1981 but left for a brief time to work at the post office. He realized that "going postal" wasn't fun and soon returned to Mutual. (Thank the hardware Gods!) Sal's specialties are Casters, Speed-Rail® and Track. If this is what you are interested in, ask for Sal directly. He is known in the industry as the "Speed Rail® King".

Desmond Walkes - Shipping

Desmond started working for our sister company, Alcone, back in 1982. He was so valued that we transferred him to Mutual Hardware in 2003 to better utilize his many skills. Born in Trinidad, he learned the construction trade and is a "very handy man to have around". He works in shipping, helps us maintain our buildings, assists in custom fabrication and serves as a back-up driver on occasion. Desi is the guy you want around when you want to "Be Jammin"!
