Techtips
Mutual has some very strange products. We have broad butts (hinges that is) and Mombo Combos. We sell pancakes and aluminum babies. We can make things swivel, roll, hang or fly (Well not really fly).
One exclusive Mutual item is the CP10 corner plate...the most convenient and unique piece of hardware we sell. (I must warn you, sometimes they are not very pretty. We wonder what the welder was thinking.)
But they work, and make building a platform so easy. First, construct the platform you need for your show. Convenient holes make fastening the wood top and edging a breeze.
Try wrapping the platform in painted muslin or canvas for a fun scenic finish. Or wrap the platform in Black Duvetyne or Black Commando Cloth (search Commando Cloth or Duvetyne) to make the platform disappear.
The CP10 accepts 1" I.P.S. pipe size as legs, which you can make as high or low as your plan requires. If you want the legs to be high, install horizontal braces for stability.
If the platform is wide, use Speed-Rail® Fittings Flanges #SR45 or #SR46 (in stock and featured on this site) to brace the span. We also stock flanges that will finish of the bottom piece of pipe and add stability.
You can also add stem casters
to make the platform roll. See how much fun this can be!
When finished, take it apart. Store the lumber and these four little corners. For the next show, you can start all over again using your recycled lumber and four CP10 Corner Plates.
