The number one mistake made when ordering Speed-Rail® fittings is determining the proper size.
If you are measuring the fitting, the inside fitting diameter is the outside pipe diameter. You need to determine the I.P.S.
If you do not have a fitting in front of you, but you have the pipe, simply use the I.P.S. size associated with your pipe.
I.P.S. really means Iron Pipe SIze not Inside Pipe Size like it is known today. This standard of measurement was originally developed for fluid transfer so the pipes fluid capacity was measure.
